argumentOfPeriapsisreadonly
Argument of periapsis, radians.
ascendingNodereadonly
Longitude of the ascending node, radians, where it is published.
The eight planets and the twenty moons leave this out on purpose — the
header explains why a satellite's node is not a fact a player can check.
A small body's is: JPL publishes an osculating element set for every one of
them, and where Halley is on its orbit in 2061 is a thing somebody will
look up. Absent means "draw it from the seed", which is what every body in
bodies.ts does.
atmospherereadonly
axialTiltreadonly
Obliquity to the orbit, radians.
cloudsreadonly
discoveryYearreadonly
Discovery year; 0 for the six known since antiquity.
eccentricityreadonly
figurereadonly
The measured figure, for a body gravity never rounded off.
Null means round, not unknown. See BodyFigure; the half-extents here are
JPL's published extent halved, and the model keys name files in
data/shapes/.
geometricAlbedoreadonly
Geometric albedo.
hazereadonly
inclinationreadonly
Inclination to the parent's equator (moons) or the ecliptic (planets).
kindreadonly
massreadonly
meanAnomalyreadonly
Mean anomaly at J2000, radians, where it is published. See ascendingNode.
moonsreadonly
namereadonly
polarRadiusreadonly
Polar radius. Equal to radius for a body with no measured flattening.
radiusreadonly
Equatorial radius — the largest half-extent a for a body that is not
round.
reliefreadonly
Peak-to-trough relief the elevation map covers, meters.
ringsreadonly
rotationPeriodreadonly
Sidereal rotation period. Negative is retrograde.
roughnessreadonly
semiMajorAxisreadonly
Semi-major axis about the parent.
temperaturereadonly
Mean surface or 1-bar temperature, kelvin.
texturereadonly
Texture-set key, or null where no map has been vendored.
tintreadonly
Linear-sRGB tint applied to the albedo map, or the whole surface without one.
Not decoration. The USGS Voyager and Galileo mosaics for Europa, Ganymede and Callisto are monochrome — measured: zero saturation across all three — because that is how those cameras returned them. Rendering them gray would be a different lie from tinting them: the colors here are the published ones, and the map supplies the structure it actually has.
