function nodeDistance
terrainSelect.ts:460
Eye to the nearest point of the shell of ground a node can occupy.
The node is a cone of half-angle halfAngle about axis; ground inside it
lies between radius ± relief. The nearest point is found by minimizing the
law of cosines over that radius band at the angle the cone's edge leaves —
so an eye directly over a node, at any height inside the shell, is zero
meters from ground it might be standing on, and an eye in orbit is its
altitude above the highest thing the node could contain.
