function screenRoutePosition
cinematic.ts:598
screenRoutePosition(beats: readonly ScreenBeat[], frame: number, fovDeg: number, aspect: number) → Vec3
A route through the frame: screen position and apparent size, interpolated in the terms they were measured in.
Range is splined in log space, which is the whole point. An approach beat list runs from tens of kilometers to tens of meters, and a Catmull-Rom over those magnitudes in meters does what any spline does when its knots span four decades: the tangent at the near end is set by the far one and it overshoots hard — in practice through the camera and out the other side, so a hull that should have been receding at a kilometer simply vanished for twenty frames. Constant fractional closing is also the honest description of every approach in the reference, so the log is not a workaround; it is the right coordinate.
