Altitude above the datum below which a body's ground has to be asked.
A gate at a quarter of the body's radius — 1,600 km on an Earth-sized world — has every tick of a 400 km orbit sampling fourteen octaves of noise twice for an answer the datum sphere already gives to nine kilometers. Measured: 12.5 µs a tick sampling, against 1 µs on the datum.
